Three New Releases: Behind the Music

Our in-house producers have been busy behind the scenes working on their respective artist projects, and this week sees three members of our production team unveiling brand new music. Zach (Chrome Avenue), Jordan (GLOANS) and Teddie (Juno Keir) have all been hard at work bringing their latest tracks to life, with GLOANS and Juno Keir releasing their new music today, while Chrome Avenue follows on Friday 21st August.

We caught up with all three producers to find out what really happens behind the scenes when they’re creating new music. From the initial ideas and inspiration to the production techniques, creative decisions and challenges, they take us inside the process behind their music. 1) Chrome Avenue - The Lakeside Waves

Whilst Zach's newest release may not officially be available until Friday 21st August, that didn't stop us speaking with him to find out the details behind his track!

The initial concept for Zach's newest track under Chrome Avenue, The Lakeside Waves, was built around creating a relaxed and meditative atmosphere. Zach wanted to combine organic sounds with synthesised textures whilst giving the track a sense of rhythm that could act almost like a guide, carrying the listener through the experience from beginning to end.

As production developed, that idea evolved into something more immersive. Rather than simply creating an ambient soundscape, the track became a carefully balanced meeting point between rhythm, synthesis and the sounds of the natural world.

Zach describes the bass as the “backbone” of the track, created using a sequenced modular synthesiser. The same note repeats throughout the piece, but its syncopated rhythm changes the way that repetition is felt across the bars, for those who don't know, syncopated is a technique where rhythms are arranged so that accents fall on off-beat parts, this can create a sense of surprise, movement, or groove.

Sound design was equally important, Zach removed some of the high-end frequencies from the bass to give it a softer, smoother quality, avoiding anything that might feel harsh or distracting.

One of the biggest challenges that Zach described to us during production was incorporating real-world sounds into a mainly synthesised production.

When wind, chimes, a rainmaker and xylophone recordings were brought into the mix, these organic sounds initially contrasted heavily with the synthetic pads. Rather than removing them, Zach worked to make the two feel connected rather than both elements fighting for attention.

Reverb, chorus and delay and space were other key considerations. Instead of filling every moment with sound, Zach used sparse notes and a thoughtful use of effects to preserve the openness that is commonly associated with ambient music.

Zach’s intentions behind The Lakeside Waves is simple, to give the listener somewhere peaceful to go. Zach is hoping that listeners can gradually find a sense of inner peace whilst listening, whether they turn to it during stressful moments or simply listen for the enjoyment of tranquillity.

In an increasingly busy world, The Lakeside Waves offers listeners a chance to slow down, create space and allow yourself to be transported somewhere calmer.

With its combination of modular bass, organic recordings, soft synth textures and dreamy effects, the upcoming Chrome Avenue release is one designed to be experienced.

2) GLOANS - ‘Reborn’

With his latest EP, Reborn, out today, Jordan’s GLOANS project takes a more

atmospheric, open and immersive approach, focusing on emotion, space and movement rather than a traditional song structure.

The foundations of the title track and EP as a whole began with an ethereal guitar, a sound Jordan has explored previously on his widely successful release, Temple Of Peace. From that starting point, Jordan gradually built the track around the guitar, introducing layers of ambience, subtle textures and carefully placed elements to create something that felt more like an evolving soundscape than a conventional composition.’

Jordan found that the guitar quickly became the defining element of the project. He then began experimenting with processing it heavily, using reverb, delay and other effects to stretch and transform the sound. The intention was to move the guitar away from feeling like a recognisable instrument and instead allow it to blend into the surrounding elements. At certain points, it almost takes on the quality of a vocal or another ambient texture, helping create a hazy, dreamlike character that runs throughout.

One of the biggest challenges that Jordan described during production was knowing when to stop. With ambient music, Jordan explained that there is always a temptation to keep adding layers, effects and sounds, but doing so can sometimes take away from the vision of the original idea. Jordan found that leaving space was just as important as filling it. By stripping back elements throughout the production stages and allowing simpler moments to breathe, the track retained its sense of atmosphere without becoming overcrowded.

Jordan explained that this new approach also reflected his growth as a producer. Compared with his previous music, Jordan says Reborn demonstrates his greater confidence in restraint and in allowing individual sounds to have their own space. Rather than trying to fill every part of the arrangement, the focus became creating a journey that was driven by space.

He hopes that his new EP can give people a moment to pause and disappear into the music, allowing them to attach their own memories and emotions to what they hear. Whether it creates a feeling of calm, nostalgia, inspiration or simply provides a few minutes of escape, ‘Reborn’ leaves the meanings open for the listener.

3) Juno Keir - Koi Ripples

Teddie has been developing his sound under the Juno Keir project for some time, using each release as an opportunity to explore new ideas and further define the kind of producer and music he loves to produce. Over time, he has developed a style that brings together atmospheric production, organic elements and carefully considered sound design, creating music that feels immersive and spacious.

With his latest release, Koi Ripples, Teddie continues to build on that approach, combining the natural textures of field recordings, layered synths and calming instruments to create a sound that feels airy, expansive and intricate. The track was inspired by the relationship between electronic sounds and the distinctive atmosphere associated with Japan’s koi ponds. Koi ponds and lakes are a traditional feature of many beautiful Japanese gardens, where their calm waters and colourful fish have become synonymous with tranquillity, reflection and contemplation. While larger ponds can be found within public spaces, koi are also kept by hobbyists in specially designed ponds in smaller locations, making these peaceful environments become a place of respite in the hustle and bustle of a metropolis like Tokyo.

With this in mind, Teddie wanted to capture a sense of calm and connection with nature within the track. The gentle introduction of the steel tongue drum and handpans complements the sounds of the water, while the ripples across its surface and the peaceful surroundings of a koi pond became a key starting point. From there, he translated these ideas into a production built around subtle sounds and a sense of movement through nature. It is this balance between the organic and electronic elements that gives the track its character and creates something that feels grounded in nature.

At its heart, Koi Ripples is an invitation to step away from the noise of everyday life and spend a little time immersed in sound. Teddie has created a track that can be experienced in different ways depending on the listener and the moment, whether it becomes the soundtrack to a quiet evening, a creative session or simply a few minutes spent switching off. By leaving space within the music, he allows listeners to bring their own experiences to it and find something personal within its atmosphere.

All three of these latest releases from our in-house producers are now making their way to listeners. Koi Ripples by Juno Keir and Reborn by GLOANS are both available to stream across all major streaming platforms now, with The Lakeside Waves by Chrome Avenue set to release on Friday 21st August 2026.
